Discreet and safeWhat you tell me stays between us. The more at ease you feel, the better the treatment works.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who are the treatments for?

I treat women only, from 18 years old. I work alone and come to people’s homes, often in the evening, and a treatment is physically intimate. That choice keeps things comfortable and safe for both of us. I do not treat minors, not even with a parent’s consent.

Is lymphatic drainage painful?

No. The pressure is deliberately light and the movements are rhythmic. That is part of the technique and has to do with how superficially a significant part of the lymphatic system sits. Harder does not mean better here.

Can I see a difference right after Sereine Flow?

If you visibly retain fluid, the body can temporarily look less bloated and feel more defined after the treatment. That is fluid movement, not fat loss. How visible the effect is differs from person to person.

Why do people book lymphatic drainage before an event?

Because fluid retention can affect how the stomach, legs and waist look, among other things. Some clients therefore book a treatment just before a holiday, wedding, photoshoot or party. On top of that it remains a very relaxing treatment.

Is Sereine Unknot painful?

A trigger point can be tender, but I do not work on the principle that more pain automatically gives a better result. I adjust the pressure and combine targeted techniques with calmer strokes.

Do I have to talk?

Only what is needed before the treatment. After that you help set the tone. If you want to talk, we talk. If you want silence, I do not need to fill it.

When is it better not to book?

If you have a fever, an active infection, acute thrombosis or certain other medical situations, massage or lymphatic drainage may not be advisable. Do you have a medical condition, unexplained swelling or recent surgery? Are you pregnant, or under a doctor's care? Mention it beforehand. If in doubt, I will ask you to seek medical advice first.

Can I still reschedule my appointment?

Yes. Up to 24 hours before the appointment you can reschedule or cancel free of charge, and the deposit then moves once to the new date. If you move the same appointment a second time, I ask for a new deposit for the new date and the first is not refunded. With a Sereine Series or a gift voucher there is no deposit: after a late cancellation your session or voucher stays valid, and only when it happens a second time do I ask for a deposit of € 30 for the next appointment. If you book a Sereine Face Edit with your Sereine Series, there is a deposit and the same rules apply. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the appointment, or if you are not at home when I arrive, the deposit is not refunded. If I am the one who cannot come, you get it back of course, or we find a new moment together.

Do I have to undress completely?

No. You undress as far as you feel comfortable; your underwear can stay on. During the treatment you lie under a sheet and I only uncover the area I am working on. The rest stays covered throughout. For a facial you do not need to undress at all.

How long does it take in total?

The treatment itself lasts 60 or 90 minutes. Add about fifteen minutes before and after, to set up the table, briefly go through what to watch out for and pack everything away again. I arrive a quarter of an hour before the agreed time, so the treatment itself can start at the agreed time.

Do I need to tidy my house?

No. I need about two by three metres of free space, and a warm, quiet spot. What the rest of the house looks like does not matter. I bring the table, the linen and the oil. You do not need to prepare anything, apart from somewhere for me to wash my hands.

Will the oil leave me feeling sticky?

The oil is largely absorbed and you can shower whenever you like. After a lymphatic drainage treatment, keep that shower lukewarm rather than hot that day. If you would rather not get oil on your clothes, lay out something comfortable to stay in afterwards.

How often should I book?

It depends on why you book. If you are working on a specific complaint or on fluid retention, the first appointments are usually closer together. If it is about rest and maintenance, most people plan something every few weeks. After your first treatment I will tell you honestly what I would recommend, and whether that means many sessions or few in your case.

Can I book for someone else?

Yes. For a gift I work with a gift voucher: you buy it, and whoever receives it chooses when and which treatment. If you would rather book an appointment for someone else straight away, that is possible too, but I always call that person beforehand. I never start a treatment without going through the initial consultation questions with them, because I need to know what to take into account. I never skip that step.

What if I fall ill on the day itself?

Just let me know, even at short notice. A treatment during a fever or an active infection is not advisable anyway, so it is the better choice for both of us. Strictly speaking, moving an appointment within 24 hours falls under the cancellation rule, but if you are ill I will not make a fuss about it: your deposit simply moves to the new date. I do that once. If it happens a second time, the ordinary cancellation rule applies and the deposit is not refunded.

How do I buy a gift voucher?

Let me know which treatment or which amount you would like a voucher for, and whether it should carry a name. I write it out with its own number and a validity date. Payment is by bank transfer, and as soon as it comes in I send the voucher or hand it over. If you want to give it on a particular day, say so and I will take that into account.

Is a treatment reimbursed by health insurance?

No. A treatment at Sereine is a wellness treatment rather than physiotherapy, and no medical prescription is involved. So there is no reimbursement under compulsory health insurance. Some Belgian health insurance funds and supplementary insurers do offer a wellbeing or prevention benefit, and that varies from one to another, so it is worth asking yours. I draw up an invoice if you need one.
